    Too Many RPM's?

Just purchased a new boat with a 01 Evinrude Ficht 200 HP. It has less than 70 hrs. I took it out for the first time today. Starts and runs well. I am worried WOT may be pushing too many RPMs. 6100 RPMs @ WOT. Is this within range or do I need a different prop.

Boat is 2001 Stratos 19 SS Extreme Prop is a 26P Raker. Any suggestions or comments is appreciated.

    Thanks
    Kenny

Have the tach verified for accuracy.

Is this something most dealers can do?

Check to see what WOT for this engine should be... I don't think this is too much. It's certainly better than too little and lugging the engine.

I turn bout 62 6300 WOT on my 01 250. I usually cruze at about 4800 - 5000. That's the sweet spot on my fuel flow meter.

You're crusin' for a brusin' at those rpms for a Ficht....JMHO Recommended is around 5800. Prop her around there and she will be with ya for a while, Ya start getting above 6000 and she' let ya down sooner or later...JMHO

You mean "sooner than later" !!........................I would prop her like Mike said to turn 5800 on the nose and not a penny over. The r's you are turning will make the engine go "BOOM" sooner than later !!. ..............................RR

    Re: (The Green Hornet)

Thanks for the replies. I've got it scheduled to go into the shop Thurs. The tech said he could hook the computer to the motor to verifiy how high the RPM's have been hitting. Hopefully this will verify the accuracy of my tach, and determine if I need to re-prop or not.

The shop says my Tach is right on. They beleieve something may be wrong with my prop, although there are no visable signs. So I'm going to purchase a 27 and see what happens.

Check for a spun hub before laying out cash for a new prop.

I have the same boat and motor and running a 25p 4 blade wide open I normally run at 5950. At about 70. 72 on a good day.
