Got word from mechanic 2day that My adapter plate had a big crack in it and between the exhaust ports there was a piece 1/4" x 1/4" missing or burned out @ the crack. Price 2 replace was pretty darn expensive. He talked to someone at Evinrude and they said they have a new and improved adapter plate now. Any one had issues with this before and what would cause it to crack? 225dhlsof
I've heard about it. My motor had a low rpm miss and they thought that was the problem. it was not. my motor is a 2007 225 HO. I was told that they had a few problems with this on motorsa before mine. I think it mostly was a heat problem of bass boats. Do you run your motor high on the transom and at high rpm's.
No, I very rarely run it wide open or high on the plate but I believe the guy that had it before me probably ran it pretty hard.

A lot of times a cracked adapter is due to running with the tell-tale water pee-hole plugged up.
The small amount of waterflow from the pee-hole is circulated internally around the adapter plate to help remove some of the exhaust heat that blasts against it.
A stopped up pee-hole causes steam pockets and hot spots inside the adapter which can cause cracking of the aluminum casting.
