We ran into one good school of crappie while bass fishing under a dock in 25 feet of water near the pay bridge. We caught a good mess for supper from 8-20 feet in an hour. With a depth finder look for the spaghetti lines near the deeper docks 20-40 feet in coves and you might find these open water schools near the outer corners. This activity is not nearly as strong as it was a month ago. The crappie appear to be suspending a bit shallower in the lower lake as well. 1/16 oz. tube jigs let them arc down on a tight line through the school with no line movement or twitching to speak of.
On some days esp. early and late the big black crappie are suspectible to the jerkbait, but don't count on it daily. Good luck
