    360 heading sensor question

I have two Solix 12's - one at the console and one up front. I have the AS GPS heading sensor puck mounted right in front of my console. There was a lot of interference at the bow.

Now I'm in the process of finishing my Ultrex installation, which means adding another GPS puck.

I plan on adding 360 next. Can I use the Humminbird heading sensor I already have mounted, or do I have to mount the puck it comes with? I would rather not have 3 pucks...

    Appreciate any feedback.

The 360 comes with a AS GPS HS combo GPS/Compass. It does not connect to the 360. It is used to create and view waypoints on the 360 view. You already have one installed so you don't need another one for that purpose. You may want to add it to the transom so you will have GPS and Sonar at the same location for more accurate waypoints based on sonar returns. If you use the one you have now for GPS at the bow and/or at the console, you already have a position error with your sonar based waypoints.

The Ultrex has a built-in GPS (iPilot). It comes with a remote Heading Sensor, NOT a GPS puck.

    As always, thanks Wayne.

I understand there will be slight position error with one GPS at the console. There was just too much interference up front to seem usable. I was just testing for interference with a regular old magnetic compass.

Are you suggesting I move it from the console to the transom so that it's accurate with my down/side imaging amd the console Solix, and try to mount the other up front for use with 360 and the bow Solix? Or just have one at the transom?

Since the Heading Sensor can be shared separately from GPS, you just need the AS GPS HS at the transom so you have GPS and Sonar at the same location for the console unit. For the bow you use the internal GPS antenna and share Heading from the transom.
You can put the Minnkota Heading Sensor at the console where the AS GPS HS was.

Did you test the bow with the TM deployed and if you have a grab bar on the swing tongue that moved as far away as possible (or on the water so it wasn’t there at all)? I found those two things to be the source of most of my bow interference.
