    Honest opinions please

Looking at a boat with a 225 etec. Never owned an evinrude. History on the engine, 2006 that has had not one but two powerheads replaced. The last time they replaced with a 2009 and now has 10 hours and 2 years warranty left. Talked to a local marina that no longer will sell evinrudes and was telling him about it and his words were " good thing it has warranty because you will need it". I felt like it was a good buy on the boat but am having second thoughts. Boat is a 2006 Ranger 520, asking $23,500.00. Should I just walk away?

If you can get the Model & Serial # someone can look up the history for you. Guys that I know running them love them and have had no problems with them. Ask the owner if they found the cause of the failure.

Get the numbers and have the history checked as indicated.

I love my ETEC and am very impressed with it, warranty or not.

Answered in your other post, Sounds as if dealer is swapping powerheads without finding the root cause of PH's blowing. JMHO you will need the warranty + another dealer to get it straightened out.

I have a 06 E-Tec 225ho and it is junk. Absolutely the worst engine made. I would run as fast as you can from this motor..This year motor has bad problems with fuel injectors that lean out and take out the power head..I have been though 2 powerheads and 2 lower units among other things.
There customer service is great they have replaced 1 lower unit and 1 powerhead with it out of warranty but there product is not reliable..

It's probably still on the XD 100 setting and he's running cheap oil! I would have a dealer that knows what the heck they are talking about look at the setup.
