    2006 E-Tec 225 ho - check engine alarm

    Model # E225DHLSDF
Went to launch the boat this morning and fired up just fine, but check engine light blinked and alarm sounded. If i push on my hot-foot to get boat off trailer it just bogged out. If tranny is in idle, i get same results. but it will idle all day. Sounds like a gas feed issue??

Need to hook up the laptop to see what the code was. Could be water in the fuel that's why you need to check the codes.

I appreciate your response. Besides it taking an act of congress in my area, an appointment would be a month out. If it is water in the system ( I assume it is) this would puzzle me being I use marine (blue) Stabile continuosly through the yr. But if it is, what is the procedure for cleansing the system?

I'm not saying that is the cause of the check engine alarm there are many things that will set the alarm and the only way to see what is going on if with the PC and diagnostics. It could be a low cranking battery voltage or a bad sensor. I would look on e-bay in getting the software to load on your laptop and getting a serial cable to hook to the motor to retrieve the codes and monitor your engine's performance.
You could simply remove the fuel filter and dump the fuel and re-install it, prime the fuel bulb and re-start the motor and see if you get the alarm again.

Thank you for the response ChampioNman. I do know my engine battery needs replaced, I will try that and remove the filter and see if this helps. I am trying to get this up and running by this weekend. My sons friend was diagnoses with Stomache cancer (laymans term) and we were suppose to take him out this weekend while he still has his health.

Put a good, at least 1000 ca battery in her and change that filter and see if that helps.

Sounds like the Hotfoot is not allowing the cable to return completely or something is stickiy in the throttle linkage somewhere. The throttle position sensor has to be at idle when starting or the EMM will keep the motor from revving up and will store an error code as the TPS is out of spec.
