Hello,
I was wondering if you could give me a quick diagnosis of the likely cost to repair my outboard. I am considering whether to trade it in broken, or to fix, then trade in.
Here are the pics:

The problems happened when I was starting the motor. I left the choke on for longer than normal, it started to sound like it was revving really high, then I heard a "chunk" and then the motor stopped abruptly. Then I trimmed up, and it sound like there were rocks under the cowling. If you can't tell, some part of the motor shattered. I have no idea whether the problem is really serious, i.e. irreparable, or something inexpensive/fairly easy with the right part on hand.
Thanks very much for the assistance. I recommend this site to all of my fishing friends. Your diagnosis are always spot on.
Thanks,
Trent
