    Calling all Johnson Service Gurus

According to my engine rebuilder the only difference between the Johnson 225 and the 225 HO is the decals ALL part #s are the same so what does make a HO an HO if its only decals I'm going to start printing them up so anyone who wants to upgrade just IM me the boat seems to be way down on power seems like everyone else with a TR 21 with a 225 will run at least in the low 70s mine wont run but 60 after rebuild with just me in it any ideas guys ?????

The quickest way for you to find out is to go to shop.evinrude.com and go the the PARTS section, pick a year and look up the parts for an HO model and for a standard model. You can then compare which ones have a different part number.

Can also pull a few of your High speed orifices and look at the number and compare on http://www.shop.evinrude.com if they fit the 225 HO then you are good.

Well he put a kit in the motor from all the part #s ive compared between the 225 HO and the 225 ARE the same he didnt do anything to the carbs I just cant figure out what makes an HO AN HO the boat would run 68 at 5400 rpms before the rebuild and i can only get 60 out of it now but from everything i can find this boat ought to run in the low 70s maybe i'm expecting to much out of it !!

You need the ChampioNman touch. I'll make you happy. too bad you got screwed. The decal lie is just that a lie. Big diff in an HO.

What model HO?????????????? The 98 99 00 era ho had different port and very small idle relief... and then the carbs had like 76d jets ion the hs..... you get a 225 regular block vs. the ho and you can see the differance very quickly...
