    Question Triton 18 TRX questions

Looking at getting a 2017 18 TRX and had a few questions...

How do people like them so far ?
How is the layout?- It seems a little odd with that center storage compartment not having tackle box storage
How does it ride in big rough water?
Can you fit 4 batteries in the back compartment for a 36v trolling motor?
Does anyone have Poles/Talons, and if so what type of speeds are you getting with

    Thanks!

I had a 18XS with a 175. Rode a little better than a 518c I had, and the 518c rode very good. The new 18 TRX has a bigger center storage than my 18XS had. Very stable boat for a 18.8. Yes you can fit 4 batt in the back for a 36 volt system. They ride very smooth for a sub 19 foot boat. I was in big waves on Guntersville plenty in mine. With a 200 it will run 68-70. Triton improved some things over the 18XS. Better switches and got rid of that plastic tray in front of the passenger side. For the price, its hard to beat. If you ever have issues and go about it the right way, Triton will take care of you.

    I can't imagine it needing a 36v trolling motor.

They ride ok on bigish water. Anything over 1.5' in wave height and it gets tossed around. Where a bigger boat can stay trimmed down and plow through you need to trim up to keep from spearing, which makes for a rough ride. Just the caveat of owning a smaller boat. It does fish a lot bigger than it is, though.

Totally agree. Triton has hit the sweet spot in the bigger end fo the 18' market. Front of the boat fishes like a 20' boat. Not a wider front deck boat in this size class. Makes sense it can take a licking in big water big waves environment. It's one heavy as boat. Not a negative in my opinion.

I'm really close to pulling the trigger but want to see the 1980 Vexus tin boat before I do.

You will not be disappointed, I sell a lot of 18TRX with both the 175 and 200's. Fishes and rides like a much bigger boat.
