Sgt. Clark added that the deceased was a 41-year-old male from Eupora, Miss.

According to FLW Outdoors standings and pairings for the event, Freddy McCrory was the only co-angler in the event from Eupora, Miss. His boater today was David "Scotty" Young. Young, a Kentucky Lake legend, survived a terrible boating accident in October 2007 at the Kentucky Lake BFL Regional that resulted in lacerations to his head and a neck injury that required surgery. His accident apparently occurred when his boat contacted underwater structure. Young's motor became dislodged and struck him. His partner then was uninjured.

The sport grieves.

guys i was there and had not blasted off yet when they made an announcement that there was an on the water emergency. I blasted off and passed the wrecked boat headed back to the ramp bout a 1/2 mile from take off and it was a sickening sight and my worst fear came true. pray for the family of freddy i understand he left a 3 and 9 year old behind along with a lovely wife.

that's awful. for the family...glad you, Gene and Ronnie are ok and the rest of our guys

This is my biggest fear in tournament fishing. I have been waiting to blast off in an open tournament and watch a club idle out in the dark just so they can be ahead of the bigger tournament. My prays go out to his family.
