In real life the snake would have crawled under the gun instead of over.
And a camera wouldn't have been setup in front of the gun.
In real life I would have $hit myself and went home.
Yeah I would agree with those assessments, looks staged. But either way any southern outdoorsman knows that is a very mild tempered, non venomous snake.
I can't sit still for 5 seconds.

In a real situation the sniper would be more deadly than the snake.
What the heck is he trying to snipe in Alabama?
.
It's probably staged, but sort of playing devil's advocate or at least giving them the benefit of the doubt, keep in mind that the caption says the sniper is training. It's not hard for me to believe that they'd put a camera in front the snipers as they train. It'd be really easy to sit there for however long and honestly think you're being completely still, but the camera won't lie. And the enemy won't care if you think you're being still if you're really not. It could help the soldier become more aware of their movements and save his or her life. It also looks like there's a pretty solid connection with the ground for the stuff covering the rifle. In the snake's mind it maybe has come upon a log or something and just goes over it.

Looks like the same bad ass snake that was picking on the sniper trainer a few weeks ago...
