Help needed 250 Pro XS brand new green oil everywhere

Went out today for the first time didn’t even reach 2 hrs total. Within the first 5 min of break in my brand new fury4 decides to throw a blade. Limp back to ramp but on my tempest and get almost 2hrs on it today I get out of the water and notice green oil dripping out of lower cowl. I take off the upper cowl and there’s green oil everywhere on the motor.

So im assuming it’s gear oil. I’m so pissed in this short time a 500$ prop throws a blade and then I get off the water and have this. So question is what is the likely culprit? I thought at first maybe with the prop throwing an ear I hit something but lower unit looks brand new all around and the bad fury is spotless minus the blade that 3/4 missing

Check the cap on the oil tank under the cowling mine came a little loose one time and had oil everywhere.

The more I look I think it is injector oil. I checked that cap appeared tight but when I opened it I realized it matches the oil color I see leaking all over my engine. I didnt think it was that at first since I use dfi oil which is brownish but I don’t know what oil is put in at the factory/dealer. The oil level in the remote tank was at 1/2 upon me taking the boat home. Also that side of the engine where the engine mounted oil tank is located has a significant amount of oil. More than any other area. The tank itself however didn’t show much oil on it.

Everything is covered under warranty......Prop and motor......Go to the Dealer and have the problem documented and repaired.....Relax!

Yes I know just trying to ease my mind. I sent pictures to the dealer. issue is I bought the boat from a out of state dealer it’s a 8hr drive. First new boat I don’t know how these things get handled. My luck is the worse

Take it to a local authorized Mercury shop, your issue is with the motor. No need to travel 8 hours.

How much did you save y buying it out of state?
any Mercury dealer should be able to fix it under warranty.
they might put you in line behind their normal customers but that is the price you pay to save some money

it was about getting what I want and where I live my choices are very limited. If it wasn’t this dealer it would have been another out of state.

just wasn’t what I wanted to see for the first time ever running my new boat and motor

Me to there’s so much oil on everything I sure can’t pinpoint the source. But I also popped off the plastic cover above the flywheel and the whole underside has oil on it. So if anything it’s coming from top of the motor and running down. I can look more into it after work and in the meantime will call 2 mech in my area.

I was was so pumped getting a new boat and got my first tournament next weekend and now all this within 2hrs of running the boat

Sounds like the oil line to/from the compressor.
I would be concerned about damage to components from lack of oil.

The 'green oil' is DFI oil. It has a unique glow to it when a light is shined on it. Check the 3 90 degree fittings on the oil tank side of the engine block. They are oil injection feed lines. I've seen where a fitting is leaking some and just needs to be turned in 1 turn. But as mentioned above....let your dealer get you fixed. Mercury has the best warranty team and customer service in the business. They will take care of you !

I would put it on a hose and run it with the cowling and the flywheel cover off then maybe you can see where the oil is coming from. Might be a simple fix. Still you need to go to a dealer so the issue is documented so then if you have a failure you can point to this problem.

Found the leak it’s a 3/8 oil line that connects directly under the blue pulley. The hose had some slop and was contacting the pulley wore it down good in a few spots until it ate up enough hose to cause a hole.

Yes it goes to the compressor not sure if it’s a feed or a return line. It’s on front facing side of the motor tucked tight under the pulley and connects to a 90* check valve. Called several dealers within 2hrs of me and no one can look at for the next couple weeks. So it looks like I’m missing about a 1/4 of my tournament season.

The hole was small about about the size of #5 pencil lead but it made a mess as the flywheel and pulley was slinging oil all over.
