Hey guys I have a question I need some guru help with!! Yesterday I was trying to get on plane and my motor drop RPM's to just idle mode, it will lock in gear and idle but when you give it gas it will not change the rpm's - it stays idling!?! I checked all the linkage and everything is fine there.... no visible leaks anywhere and it idles smooth. When I turn the key on you can hear the "fuel pump" sound as if it is priming but sounds funny. Basically no throttle response at all... help!!!
Sounds like it is stuck in S.A.F.E. mode.
Sounds as if your TPS (throttle position sensor) has gone bad. If it were in safe mode you should see a check engine light. You can confirm it with the diagnostic software.

I know this makes me sound dumb.... Where is the TPS Located? Oh also there is no alarms at all.
OK, I located the TPS on my motor and have found 2 different part#'s when trying to locate a new one, if anyone knows which is the right one OR if they both are right could you let me know? Also can the TPS be changed by me (I'm a good mechanic for the most part and know my way around things somewhat) or do I have to have it dealer installed due to the EMM/Computer?

TPS Part #'s 5001770 or 0764617
5001770 is the correct part #. The symptoms point toward that being the problem but the diagnostic software is the way to confirm it. You should be able to replace it.

Hey Danrude I have been searching for the diagnostic software but all I can come up with is 1999-2001 my motor is a 2003 E225FHLSTA, any ideas as to where I can get a hold of it?
few guys parting out some motors llike yours in the motor section might be able to snag one of theirs
The 1.42b version should work on that engine!

Sorry to threadjack but I'm looking to purchase the software for a 2004 225HO - is the floppy version of 1.42 all that's available for a PC? That's primitive!
Check E-bay you may be able to find later versions there. You'll still need the cable (serial) for your PC. If you don't have a serial port then you'll need a USB adapter.
ChampioNman - thanks, was looking for a genuine BRP part because I already got burned the e-bay route, $60 for something that wouldn't work.
Better have some nitro for the heart then ~$400.00.

With the software you can check the tps settings to verify that it's going back to 0 at idle. If it's not returning to 0% at idle then it won't let you rev the engine while in gear..... I would do that before buying a new tps.JMHO
I'm still trying to find the 1.42 software my laptop has a floppy drive but Ebay hasn't been much help. Anybody got a copy? Or know where I could obtain one?
