Championman and Seahorse -2+4, marine stabil, seafoam, startron- what gives?

    2003 175 Ficht Serial Number 05006169 Model # e175fplstb

So I thought all I had to do was add 2+4 as it is prescribed on the bottle and my motor is happy-both when I'm running and when it is sitting during cold months. This is what I have done and have had zero issues-using 87 octane with 10% ethanol.

After reading a few posts about Marine stable, seafoam, and startron I am curious what Championman and Seahorse have to say about them and if I should change my current ways.

Also, a large number of people think non-ethanol fuel is the only way to go.....is it or is 10% ethanol just fine?

Additionally, I recently started running xd-100- are my de-carbing days over?

Your feedback is appreciated. Thank you for your time and making this forum an awesome place to learn!

If Seahorse could humor me with added sarcasm and smarta@@ remarks, that would be a bonus

    Brems , Gold Eagle Co. makes both 2 + 4 and Sta-Bil

2+4 is the only alcohol-based additive they make ( they do alot of private-brand labeling)

2 + 4 is 95 % isopropanol and 5 % proprietary additive ( isopropanol is cheaper at the drug store)

Gold Eagle has recommended to BRP to change to a non-alcohol based additive because of todays fuels.Mercury followed this recommendation 3 yrs ago.

I would think BRP will change their " formula " in the future.

Most fuel-related problems are due to poor housekeeping which the owner can control to a large degree.

I would hope they take it as well as they give it-esp seabiscuit- I've seen some of his other posts:) Championman was in on some digs this time as well. Still waiting for answers....

Around here, we give it, take it, and are never too serious about it:)

I've been out of town for over a week.

Folks who use 2+4 correctly say it works just fine.

Folks who use other brand products say they work just fine.

Remember that there is no miracle additive that will prevent phase-separation or that will magically make stale fuel into good gasoline.

So I think my profile is complete....I'm sure Seahorse will tutor me if I have screwed anything up

Thanks for the info guys-I wish I didn't have to ask the question- it would mean I could fish year round!

I'm looking at a Hummingbird SI Unit and wonder if anyone has installed one on/under the transom-I do not have a Jackplate.

    Cheers!
