    trim help..

..I have 1983 115 Evinrude. It trims up, but won't trim down, and I need it down to squeeze it into my garage.

I've heard of swapping wires..where are they? If I can't figure that out, can I bleed the trim to lower it? There was one big slot head screw I took out of the trim, but nothing happened?

Wher are the relays? I asked on the electrical forum, and one kind fellow posted a pic of the relay..but I can't find them anywhere.

Yes, I pulled that screw all the way out..I loosened it, and nothing happened..took it out, and nothing happened.

I just need to get it lowered to get it in the garage,

On the 83 it should be on the very back of the block just below the flywheel and voltage regulator. The relays are under the black rectangular plastic cover. You will need to remove the two scerws on either side fo the cover to access them. Put the screw back in and put some weight on the lower unit. Just don't screw it in all the way.

There's not a black rectangular cover on the back of the block.

The starter is on the port side, and something below and to the rear of that has a big wire running to it that says something about disconnecting the battery, then disconnect solenoid..I'm guessing that's the voltage regulator.

There's a big somewhat rectangular cover in the front of the engine, but it's got several screws holding it on..it has a sticker on it that's hard to read, but it looks like it gives a spark advance setting...but I don't think that's the one you're talking about. I'm guessing the carbs are there...

Whoops sorry that is why we ask for model numbers. You trim stuff (electronics) should be mounted on the inside of the transom the relays are replaceable. Go to http://www.shop.evinrude.com and click on the parts diagram that will give you the parts layout.
