    Rebel TBX

    Hi everybody

Just some questions for the gurus.

    I own a 2007 E-tec E150DPLSU #5194606, with a Johnson Evinrude OMC Stainless Steel Viper prop 15 x 17 propeller (part number 174889), reaching 5400 rpm at WOT.

In order to get a better fuel economy and ride quality (I'm on the Mediterranean sea) I wat to change to a Johnson Evinrude Rebel SS TBX 3 Blade Prop 15.75 x 15.

    The questiona are:
1-Will this prop fit in the 15 spline shaft?
2-Will it be enough room for such a large diameter?
3-Is it there a minimun clearance between the prop blades and the anticavitation plate?
4-Is all the hardware regarding the TBX hub included (Thrust washer)
5-Am I right with the pitch to get 250-300 rpm increase at WOT?
    Thanks a lot in advance

This is a Evinrude prop, so they designed it to fit.
    1. Yes
    2. Yes
    3. There's about 1/16" or 3mm clearance. I currently am running the exact prop on my '07 150HO(deep-v center console).
    4. Comes w/TBX hub including different thrust washer.
    5. RPM may be a wash, as this is a aggressive prop. Definitely don't get 17P Rebel with your current #'s.

    Hi

Finally I've got the 15" pitch.

I will tell when run how it performs.

    Hi

    I finally installed the prop.
The TBX hub is a bit mess to install, as it gets so tight inside that you have to screw the nut in until it feels hard. I hope it was pushed in enough. I inserted the geaar and tightened the nut until the motor started turning.

No possibility to test run the motor, since this weekend we have severe storms.

Il keep you up to date when tested.

A new TBX hub is tight the first time it's seated. When it bottoms out, then you feel the nut torque. After that, it stays seated and the prop installs like normal. When tightening or loosening the nut, put a block of wood(piece of 2x4) between the prop blade and anti-vent. plate. Torque the nut to 70-80ft.lbs(95-109Nm). *Torqueing the nut using the motor may damage the gearcase.

    C'mon good weather.

    Hi everyone.

Well, finally yesterday we could give a try to the Rebel, and all expectations were matched.

WOT reached 5500, not as much as expected but ok, the boat was much more sensible to the trimm, this is good in order to avoid bumpy ride with waves. As the water was almost flat, I could not confirm the ride quality, but with the trimm full down It has to be Ok. I will inform once I have run the boat in the waves.

The fuel consumption was a litle better than with the Viper 15 x 17 I had before.

I also noticed much less slip, specially at throttle off, the brake effect is much stronger than before, and the holeshot is now better.

What size and type of boat are you running and what speed are you seeing at WOT?

If you can't run with the big dogs, just stay on the porch.
