Looking to build up a 96 Rude 150

Blew out the motor this weekend, OOPs
Has anyone ever welded closed the tuned exhaust hole below the power head?
I read this as a stage two build-up after shaving heads, rejetting carbs, and porting the motor. supposed to be good for 5 more ponies. What would you think about doing it without the porting, (yey or ney)?

If you suck it in you can't push it out. So your going to dump that much jack for 5 HP? I think I'd check with Monty, http://www.montyracing.com.

No jack involved. I can weld up the hole in the divider plate myself, just wondering if anyone has done this or heard of this being done. Just trying to figure if it has causeed any adverse effects?
