Suggest a lake to hold our club's classic OCT 17

I would love to hear some ideas on where to hold my clubs classic in Oct.. I want to keep it within 3-4hrs from the chicagoland area. Let me know of the place and why we should go there.

    Thanks

You could always do Shelbyville. Maybe a bit further to Mill Creek but well worth it. Both lakes are producing. Shelby is a PITA to schedule events. Maybe Lake Springfield? Lots to do there, lots of fish to catch.

Springfield is full that weekend. Our club fished Schy-Rush in October and it was a nice lake. Has lots of big fish in it, BB for our classic was close to 8lbs. We fished Lake Taylorville last year in Oct and it had some really big fish. Won't catch a lot but you can catch some pigs there. As SGT suggested, Mill Creek is excellent too.

I was looking into Mill Creek already. We fished Shelby on our first trip this year. I hear that the Muskies are thick that time of year.

Oct. is my favorite month to fish Shelbyville. Boat traffic is almost 100% fishermen with no pleasure boaters or jet skis. You can find bass in the creeks, coves and main lake...

Try North. Lake Geneva at that time can be hot. Plus the traffic is gone.

Club wants to stay in IL..which I totally disagree with. I had planned to go to Prairie Du Chein but everybody got scared of the travel distance and the River....sissies!!

Any other suggestions for southern IL??

Too bad Springfied is full, but Schuy Rush near Beardstown would be a great classic lake for a small club.
