    PVA tx at Rend?

Hey Don, how'd the tx go this weekend? Did you end up with enough boaters? I wouldn't of wanted to be out there yesterday, that wind was howling as I was driving through there coming back from Paris, TN. Hope you all had a safe and enjoyable weekend, hopefully I can make it next year.

    Hi Eric,

Well glad to be home safe and sound after the beating that we took on the lake yesterday. With that South wind and as strong as it was it posed problems for lots of folks. The PVA leadership started making phone calls to the boaters around 11:30 yesterday asking where they were on the lake and offering to bring trailers to the nearest ramp so that theyt could get them off the water. At one point the waves were breaking so hard on the 154 causeway that water was going up onto the road, just to give you an idea. One of the guys there was from Ohio and fishes Lake Erie for small-mouthth and said it was a piece of cake compared to Rend.

The fishing was tough and the numbers were down but still a great time. Both my son and my daught in-law managed to finish in the money with their partners so it was nice to see them do well. I am proud of them for doing well and helping with the PVA event.

Atta-boy/girl to your son and daughter-in-law. Glad to hear that everyone got in safely. I grew up fishing tournaments on Lake Michigan and I have to admit that Rend Lake can still make the hair on my neck stand up when the wind blows. Running waves in a bass boat is a totally different ballgame when there are no troughs to run in. I speared one on Rend in a BFL a few years ago and ripped my trolling motor clean off the front of the boat!!

Ya, it was pretty wild out there. The thing that needed to be taken into consideration was that the boat partners were disabled in one form or other and thus the need for extra safety in getting them off the water. There was no need exposing them to the extra rough rides and pounding that could actually cause them more physical harm.

The good thing was that everyone got in safe and now have a few good stories to take back home about there day on Rend.

Here is a picture that Curt Beamer captured on Sunday of the PVA on Rend. I think that it sums up the conditions for day two of the TX. You gotta love it when the wind is out of the south.

Was a great weekend for sure...Anyone that has never fished the PVA you are missing the boat for sure...It is a very well ran tournament. My angler finished 4th on sat and had the winning fish(s) on that day but couldnt get then to the boat. We just missed out on sunday as well. Rumor is that it may move up to Springfield next year, anyone heard that?

    Hi Eric,

You are right it was a good weekend, as usual for the PVA. If you were 4th on Saturday then you finished just ahead of my Daughter in-laws partner. I believe that you must have been the team that aced them out of big bass also. Their big one was 3.47 and I believe yours was 3.57 if I recall.

As for your question about possibly moving it to Springfield, I did hear some talk of that but think it is just talk for now. Personally, even though Springfield would be closer for me I would hate to see them move to that lake. The folks down there at Rend do such a good job it would be a shame to move it.
