I've seen two different haulers headed South with Nitro and Triton on the same trailer coming from MO.
Oh the small Tritons are being built in the Nitro plant for sure.

It may all be smoke, I don’t know... I didn't even think Legend had a following since I’ve never seen a single one around here, but when I posted some negative comments about nobody caring about them closing, I got my azz ripped left & right. Truth be told, I still feel like the only reason JM bought them was so that Vexus couldn’t, pure speculation on my part though.

There were glass boats on tandem trailers.

Agree, probably most of the reason.

I have only seen three Legend boats and mine is one. The other two were on the trailers. The Legend market is simply not large enough to keep.
GM did not make the decision to drop brands. The Feds and Obama did, as part of the bailout. GMC trucks were almost discontinued as well, but survived the cut.

Oldsmobile was gone four years (2004) before Obama was elected, five years before the bailout. You may be right on Pontiac. Can't blame everything on Obama.

WRMG didn't have anything to do with Champion. Platinum Equity closed it down after the 2009 model year. Legend pretty well builds high quality custom boats. That's something none of the other brands under WRMG does.

Never understood why they don't sell more boats. They look awesome and from what I hear they ride great.

It usually works this way... It usually takes about a year after a business is sold before any major changes are made. The buying company want to get a handle on how "you" run the business before they make changes... Does seem odd that WRMG would pull all sponsorship on the Elite/ FLW Tour level, I can see lower levels taking a hit... JM ain't gonna lose any money trying to sell Legend when he has proven money makers in Ranger, Triton and Nitro... Dan

They only make boats as they are ordered and they aren’t cheap. I think they sold something like 170 (approx #, not exact) last year. I guess 1 boat every 2 days isn’t too awful. Might also be why they were in financial trouble.

I was never too in love with their looks, I just saw Hawk every time some posted a picture.

I agree also on this, and if he did he won’t keep making Legends their much longer!

Watch larson boats VEC Fiberglass construction video... pretty neat, more consistent, less cure time, less wasted weight, and supposedly almost no fiberglass shop smell

maybe they should have dumped gmc?
2017 truck sales are out, every make except gmc was up, gmc was 2.6% down, and chev was only upn2.6%....

I honestly still think they are a goner, might be around a year or two more but thats it, why else would they get rid of their pro staff...

I think so too, the Vexus boys wanted that brand name and JM offered to write a bigger check and Randy Qualls took the offer. Who knows who would have been better for the longevity of the brand, probably Hopper...

I kinda agree while legend offers what ranger doesn’t. I can’t see why Johnny would have another boat that competes with ranger and can arguably be considered a better boat

Even if every single Legend purchaser was only considering Ranger as alternative, 160-170 boats a year is not really much of a threat to Ranger.

With the White River Marine Group’s acquisition of Legend Boats last August, the decision was made to reassign members of the Legend pro staff to other brands under the White River umbrella. While FLW Tour angler Chris McCall has opted to compete out of his 2017 Legend this season, here’s where everyone else landed for 2018:
    > Triton: Fred Roumbanis, Jacob Wheeler
    > Ranger: Jordan Lee, Matt Lee, Scott Ashmore
    > Nitro: Stetson Blaylock, Chris Lane, Fletcher Shryock

Possible theory...since the plant is currently expanding they might not be building boats right now. It’s the best I can come up with.
