    Illinois to Georgia

    Hi all,

I'm currently in my 3rd year of dental school and am searching for opportunities after graduation outside of the Chicago-land area. Maybe I am naive, but I was hoping cost of living would be more affordable in the ATL area. I'd much rather post up somewhere on the outskirts of ATL so that we are away from higher prices and yet my wife will have access to the city. Also, she needs to find some girlfriends so I am able to take the boat out - which naturally brings me to my next questions, which fisheries would be recommended around the ATL area? I'd like to google map some places so that I can get a good spatial idea......not that I'm planning my move around fishing waters or anything.......

There's tons of fishing within 1 1/2 hrs. from Atlanta!!! Lake Lanier, Alatoona, Jackson, Oconee, Sinclair...Clark Hill isn't too far...and 3 hrs or less from MANY more!!!

Sir, Look around Newnan Ga. You will be south of atlanta about 30 minutes on Interstate 85. Less traffic on South Side.
Lakes - West Point, Wedowee (Alabama) 30 minutes- Jackson Lake, Oconee, Sinclair, Allatoone, Lake George (Eufaula) and Lanier about 1 hour 30 minutes.
House are nice and cost of living is a little cheaper (Northside will cost you) If you hunt - you will be closer to Georgia's better deer county - middle of state. If looking for golf course living try Peachtree City in Fayette County. They have several small city lakes.
Need more just ask...I work in Atlanta.

Billy, are you from the Savannah area? How is the fishing there? I can't seem to find any nearby lakes on google. Is it mainly river fishing?

Mainy rivers here...most of us in this area do a lot of lake fishing, we just have to ride 2 or 3 hours. When the rivers are right, there's better fishing here than on the lakes even on their best days! The problem is, they've been flooded for several months and are just now getting right. My best 5 on the Savannah river this past Saturday was just over 22 lbs.
