    Keowee Prospects

Currently I live on the top end of the state and fish Wylie as my primary destination.

The wife and I are looking to move and actually looked at a home yesterday on Keowee with a dock, and well the house is average but I am foaming at the chance to live on the lake....

Ive fished Hartwell a few times and even been on Keowee for recreation but never fished it. Anyone here fish Keowee and can you provide any info on the bass fishing.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE

We fish Keowee all the time. Keowee is a Spotted Bass lake and those little guys don't know they are smaller. We will be fishing it again in July or August if HArtwell gets way back down again.

Our club meets this Wednesday at 7:00 PM at Sue's Wings and Things on I-85 and SC 81. You are more than welcome to come. I am sure you'll get more good information than you can ever use from the guys and most of it will be true.

There is a link to our website on my sginature at the bottom of this post. Just go to the Tournament page and scroll to the bottom.

I'll give you my opinion. I live in Anderson and fish any lake within a hour and a half. If you like to drop shot keowee is the lake for you. Personally I hate to drop shot never caught anything over 2lb on it. Saying that I'll say this people claim to catch 30-50 fish a day in trip up there. It is a good lake, I catch a lot of fish on a jig and spot remover up there. Spots range up to 6lbs in that lake and boy do they fight. It's a beautiful lake especially up the Keowee River. My office designs and builds a lot of 1-4 million dollar houses on that lake. Back on topic there isn't an abundance of structure other than rock. It has a lot of Red clay points, and rock bluffs. It does have a lot of boat traffic during the summer with all those big yachts and stuff. I personally prefer to fish Hartwell more than keowee, it just fits my style of fishing better. Just my 2 cents worth anyway.

Check this out. http://scbait.com/default.aspx This the trail I fish ( cook the hot dogs) and we are on Keowee this year due to low water. If yo scroll down to the bottom of the page you'll see close to a 30 lb stringer that was taken on Keowee last fall. If you would like to talk to an honest real estate agent that lives on the lake and I mean honest, Contact Perry Rogers on the BAIT page or IM me and I'll put you in touch with him. He is a very good friend and NOW is the time to buy on Keowee.
