    Shoal Creek still open

They've dumped some gravel at the end of the ramp, it is still usable. I got out for a few hours yesterday, only caught one keeper.

Oh boy...Pardon my apathy, but I think it stinks that the largest, best spotted bass lake in Georgia is down to 1 gravel covered lane.....Pretty pathetic of the Corps to let it get this way.....I sure hope that Tom Mann, and Ryan get some ramps extended soon.....As Jo-Dee Messina says..."My Give-a-damn's busted"

Guys if you aren't into praying you had better start praying for a tropical depression or even tropical storm to come in and thru the northern part of Ga and sit there for 2-3 days minimum!! The trickle down effect will take care of us in South Ga...

Wahoo Creek up in North Hall is still being used. There is not a concrete ramp but see a bunch of boats using the gentle slope to launch up on the north end

You'd better have 4WD in my opinion but seems to be doable by the number of boats there on a weekend.

You might want to call Kerry at The Smokin Fisherman for an update before you go, the rain the last few days has slowed down the progress.

If any of you want to help with the ramp project at Van Pugh, I almost have enough money to pay for it. I need a grand more or so. YOu can contact me by email or phone off my site. We plan to start pouring the first week of January.

We will also be laying some material off the ramp so we can use it now. Just takes a few more checks....

    WTF Ryan?

I know you fella's need to make a living but the COE's piss poor management shouldn't be assisted. I was coming back from Ellijay today and crossed on 53 several times, went down to Laurel and looked and told the wife WTH? Why isn't the COE down here extending the ramp? Looks like you have plenty of main H20 to fish just no place to launch.
Hartwell is down about as bad as ya'll but we ain't getting the press as we don't supply car washing H20 to ATL. So your 19= our 17' down. We can still launch as the COE extended our ramps the last time we went through this crap.

Agree, simply put the COE is no longer what it used to be. Even things as simple as marking an obstruction with a a $1 red ribbon is too much to ask for... Our Gov has let us down once again..

Re: Shoal Creek still open (ShaftDilbert)

You know, we can sit around and complain and gripe about it or years. Nothing will get done about it. Instead, we can scrap up a few bucks and get it taken care of. I dont have anyway of knowing what the Corps of Engineers budget is. I do know that they agreed to do all the labor, supply most of the materials if we would partner up for the concrete. We are and everyone will have ramps to use do to the generousity of a few guys. Other than that, we can all just sit around till the next drought and start complaining again.

The COE does not care if you fish or not. They care about the water moving through the lake. I was glad they offered it to us. Before, they would not even entertain the help of outsiders. It will be done and over in a few weeks.

Re: Shoal Creek still open (LanierSpots)

I agree with what everyone is saying about the COE letting us down. This whole thing SUX. If I wrote what I truly felt about them and this whole damned political mess I doubt I would be allowed on this board again. Trust me when I say that.

However, I am glad that the local businesses and guides were able to get the Corp to let them do something. As Ryan stated, they dont give a rats ass if we fish or not. Plain and simple. They only care about moving water to "wherever" our brilliant government wants it to go.

One thing to keep in mind guys ........... a lot of the guides have their boats docked and they are ON the water. It would be pretty easy for a lot of them to sit back and just book trips because hardly anyone can get on the lake. I think its pretty cool that they have undertook these projects that will help all of us out in the future.

Again, what the COE and govt is doing is pretty screwed up. But with that being said ........... if I had a bigass pothole in the road at the end of my driveway and couldnt get the county to fix it ........... well, I would probably fix it myself after I realized there wasnt much hope of them doing it. BTW, I made a contribution to one of the projects. Lets all pray for rain!

Re: Shoal Creek still open (Pappy)

I agree Pappy. And thank you very much for your contribution to the Van Pugh project. I did recieve your check. Thanks again

A few have said "I know you guys have to make a living". Understand. MY boat is in the water. I will be keeping it in there if the ramps are closed. To tell you the truth, I love the fact that they are closed. I have the lake all to myself most days. LOL.

I hope people understand that I do not have any alternative motives. Just trying to keep things positive and move forward. Not alot we can do about the Corps. They have actually been very good about the entire ramp project.
