Ha.... we don't need a link here for Lanier, there are maybe 2 ramps open on the whole lake at best. I was over by Hartwell today and it is low no doubt but nothing like Lanier right now.

Dorn was closed for a while but they added on a good bit of ramp to two lanes while it was very low. The water had come up a good bit in the last few weeks but it is a mud hole anywhere other than parts of the main lake.

    Re: Ramp closure link (gcoxvb)

There are 5 ramps on Hartwell being maintained by the Corps. They are dumping chunk rock out past the end of the ramps. What I am seeing is the bottom is dropping out and they can go no further out with the rock at some of these ramp.

Big Oak, Green Pond & Waldrops are the three I can remember that are usable. They are however "OFFICIALLY" closed. If you have a big boat you may need 4 wheel drive to pull the boat out depending on the condition of the ramp. If you pull in and see a big pile of rocks near the ramp it's being maintained and it's actually open.

NOTE: Be sure and check with you insurance company because some of the guys in my club have said their insurance will not cover them on Hartwell & Lanier.

It is really sad to see both of these beautifull lakes down like this. But on the up side. Just think of the first hatch we'll have when they do fill up and all the cover the fish will have. There are places on Hartwell up the creeks like Six & Twenty that have been out of the water going on 3 years now. So a couple years down the road these two lakes may be tops in the country. They were both already great fisheries.

SO everybody remember to say a little prayer for all your southern cousins that this drought ends soon and our southern lakes fill back up. Last night Hartwell was up to 641 from 637(660 is Full pool 654 is average) which is up a bit over 4 feet, I think...

Happy Fishing everyone and stay safe...

    Re: Ramp closure link (BearBIA)

Lake Hartwell is coming back slowly but surely. It's only 15 feet down at 646 now so most of the ramps are open and it is much safer than it was. We did have a set back last week the Corp had to increase the flow back to 3800 FPS because of an endangered fish down on the Savannah river somewhere. They said they didn't think the decrease in flow would affect it but they couldn't say it wouldn't so they increased the flow. The lake was coming up pretty steady up till then but now it's starting to drop slowly. Hopefully this storm system rolling through tonight will help.

Just keep praying for rain and maybe just maybe it'll recover soon. There will be alot of cover grass, trees etc...when it does get back to full pool at 660 Feet.

Bass Fishing has been very slow but should pick up as the water starts warming up. Last Sunday the water was between 47 & 50 degres.
