    40 hp tilt seal/wiper

    Hello
Got a question about replacing the wiper seal and tilt rod seal on a 1990 40 hp model E40 TLEIA each seal has a flat side and a side with a groove around the circumference .
When installed which side should be visible on the tilt rod cap after completion? I would think which ever way is "up" for one should be the same for the other. The seal had been replaced before with the grooved side "up" but it was leaking when I got it and maybe this was the cause? . I saw a post relating to this, but it didn't mention which way to install. Any help is really appreciated

It isn't in your Clymers shop manual?

The wiper seal will have the groove up.

Thanks for the info, it's installed groove up and no leaks!
