I`m looking at a boat with a 1998 200 venom. Need to hear if there has been a lot of problems with these motors. I know with a used motor you never know for sure what you`re getting but would like to know if these motors had a history of blown powerheads etc. Thanks

No not really. Motor is solid as they come not many issues just keep it clean internally and it should last you years to come. They do like the fuel if you keep your foot in it.
blowed my 98 225 venom up 5 times last year. Only had the boat for 4 months before it blowed up the 1st time.

The rebuilder obviously never found the problem that caused the failure.

I wouldn't have gone back to him after the 2nd time. I would have made a visit to my lawyer however!

Have had mine about 3 months. Same exact motor. No problems at all - knock on wood. I don't run it wide open though. It will push my boat around 73 mph wide open. Way too fast for me.
I put a '97 Venom (200hp) on my boat back in 2004. The only problem I've had was that I had to replace the VRO pump once a copule years ago. Hard to start on cold mornings, but other than that it has been good to me.

The 200 with the small carbs run good, not lean - be careful of the 225 venoms - may not be jetted good and may run lean at wide open
That is when you need to start checking orifice sizes and other things.
