    Russell 5/14

    Guys,
I've been all over the GA map trying to find a easier ramp for y'all to get to for the T but looks like the 72 ramp in Elberton is the easiest for you to get to. Every other way is country back roads to the lake at least going to the 72 ramp is main highways although it is at the bottom of the lake, PS there are Spots in it ! CM

hey GA guys, some people in SC are thinking of putting a bounty on spots in russell, take as many as you want and they will pay you 10 cents a spot to take them home to eat, release in lanier or do what you want to with. Please just dont bring any more with you

I've never been to the lake,so the ramp will be open to suggestion....being I'm pretty directionally challenged,I figure the easier, the better

As far as spots are concerned,Lanier has enough already....I don't mind catching them if they're good sized....I caught a half dozen or so at G-ville....All about 13 inches....story of my life

Where is the ramp on 72 at?

You can count me in on being there, I just need directions from 72 coming out of Elberton.

drive past 72 marine( on left ) go till you cross the lake, you have gone too far turn around and go back. it is the last left before you hit the lake and before you make the right to bobby brown park. it is easy to find has a sign and everything. probably will be 3-4 club tourneys that day plus what ever other tourneys are going on so it will be crowed as heck , also all the NC and such people are heading down since they want to hit spawn on russell and catch the fish then go home. I would say that at the big ramps 2/3rds of the boats are from up north ( Tn, NC, VA, WV, Penn, MD and such)

What other ramps are there that are kinda small, out of the way ones like Weldon at Hartwell,or Sardis at Lanier....Those ramps don't seem to get heavy tourney traffic....any like that at Russell????....I'll drive a few extra miles to save major irritation

easiest one to get to for Ga guys is the state park out there. Used to have a hunt camp there. Still is a drive from hell though.

shuck penn down the road is pretty good and just as easy for the GA guys, instead of turning left into the 72 boat ramp you turn right towards bobby brown park and it is about 2-3 miles on the left. the only others on the other side of the lake that are with in easy reach of hwy 72 but they have no docks ( beer garden creek and mill wood) the rest will probably be crowded also. you could also maybe do the one up from elberton on hwy 368 ( I think) it turns into hwy 184 in the SC side. it can get crowded also but it has 3 ramps and a huge dock. the state park could work but then you have to pay to park and such.

I'll be at this one, maybe even talk Tina into fishing with me. Since this school thing started it's hard to get her out of the books.

Lake Russell SP is a PITA to get to for y'all at least 72 is all main roads for y'all. Just don't go past 72 Marine like Steve said there are signs. If y'all want to come over Friday night and stay there are a few cheap motels over in Elberton and a few good restaurnts over there and there is alway fast food. Last time I stayed down there it was around $35/ night and close to the lake. No CC this time.

    Re: (Schulze)

bobby brown is not on russell it is on the hill. the only state parks ( major with camping ) on russell are calhoun falls (SC) and russell (GA). once you get past shuck penn you pass the dam and it is the hill.
