I hear there were 3 tournaments out of Salt Run this past weekend. I'm guessing FBN, Middleburg, and possibly The Bass Stalkers. Anyone hear the weigh-in results from any of these?
Thanks!

bassmasters of gator country had one sunday and it took a whopping 3lbs to win!
Im heading up there Thursday.. Hope a wave has moved up with this full moon and warm spell!!
Me and DaddyChathum were there today. Saw an absolute monster. She had to be 10+ easy. Could even have been the biggest wild bass I had ever seen. Sucker was like grey in color bugged out eye's. She was just cruising. Wasnt on a bed. Looked like it ate a few of those you see in the Bass Pro Shops Aqaurium...........................lol

That clear water will freak ya out with the fish you see.. The one Bill caught last year we figured to be 6lbs or so watching it on the bed.. Once out of the water and on the scale I think it went 9.9 and we could see packs of 50 or so that would have at least 10 that were that same size, just cruizing the shallows.. Couldnt believe we found one still on a bed in May..

Didnt get all the way up to Salt Run, but did get to the other 2 springs on the south end..
Fish started moving up around 10am (as far as I could tell), just about the same time the wind picked up.. Didnt see any monsters, but a lot of 4-5lbrs. paired with 1-2lb bucks.. One larger bed had at least 4 in it that we could see at any 1 time..
Caught 1 real quick, (small 1.5-2lb) and in the process tore up the only bait I had, (Orange pepper tube) that I could see, with the water choppy..
Shallow anchors are a must, especially for a novice bed fisherman, if theres anything more than a whisper of wind.. Tried DC's method (posted above) more than once..![]()

We left around 11am as the wind just kept getting stronger.. Water was 61-63* (depending on the area) at first light and made it to 66* by the time we left.. (These were at the mouths of the springs, and farther out toward the lake..)
Seeing as I am working in Jax off and on now I gotta get hooked up with some you local pros that can teach this muddy river fisherman how to catch a fish on a bed!!![]()

Well, since you asked..![]()

Seriously though, Im a beginner at bed fishing and here's all I know so far.. If you can "see" it (fish & bait) on the bed, and it doesnt run off when you put your bait in there, you can catch em' pretty easily.. Just keep pitching your bait in there till you find the "hot spot".. You'll know when it starts paying immediate attention to the bait.. Once that happens, it's all over but the shoutin'...
The hard part comes when you cant see your bait, or the fish, or both.. But you know it's there.. Then their are spooky fish that arent locked on yet.. They usually just run off when you pitch your bait in the bed and might not return until you leave or wait a significant amount of time.. But if you find them pinned on the bed, and can see whats happening, it's not hard..![]()
