    Orange Lake this Fri 13th

Well I'm going up to my parents house Thursday and me and my dad plan on going to Orange on Fri for the first time ( his first time as well). They are in Dunnellon. What would be the best ramp to launch from and general driving directions. We are fishing out of his 14ft jon boat so don't need a great ramp, but would prefer to be in the middle of the action. I want a chance at one of these pigs you guy's a talking about!

If anyone else is out there we will be in a 14ft green jonboat, 15 merc, and a white saltwater trolling motor. Come on by and do a couple of donuts around us so I can see my old man freak out.

The best ramp to use would be Heagy Burry. It's on 441. From Dunnelon I would come up 41 to 40 then take 40 east. You can either

    1) get on the interstarte and go to exit 368 and go east to 441, which will be the first intersection after you get off the interstate and head north on 441. There will be a BP station on the right a few miles down the road to the ramp is at the BP station. There is a sign, just follow to the end, it dead ends into the ramp.

    2) Follow 40 until it intersects with 301/441 in Ocala and head north. You will head out of Ocala and keep heading north on until you reach the intersection of 329, it's about 10 miles north of Ocala, the road will split after this intersection, keep going straight this is 441, you will follow 441 north until you cross 318 in the town of Orange lake. After this light a few miles down the road theirs a BP on the right, turn at the BP station and follow till the end. There is a sign at the road for the boat ramp.

I'm taking my dad there for the first time this weekend as well. I've been fishing it pretty regularly here lately, but this weekend will be for the old man. He's coming down from SC on Friday and we'll be on the lake all day Saturday and Sunday. Not sure where we're staying around there yet.

Don't feel bad about the jon boat. I'm fishing there out of a camo 15' War Eagle with a 25hp Yamaha on it. I've had no problems there yet. As long as the wind doesn't kick up too much you'll be fine. I haven't had any trouble getting on fish due to the boat yet.

Noland, are you referring to the gas station at the intersection of Hwy 441 and county road 318? If so you have to go north on Hwy 441 from that gas station about 1.5 miles and then you'll see the sign to the boat landing on the right hand side. The road that dead ends at Heagy Burry ramp should be NW 191st Place.

A word to the wise......Don't follow Google map directions to the park. It will lead you back through the mobile home park over by the Ocala Jai Lai building and you'll get to see the ramp, but it'll be across a fence from where you end up!!

I don't feel bad about that boat at all. Actually, I'm very proud of it. That was the first boat I bought when my parents moved up there and took their old boat and I stayed down here. My dads old boat was a 12ft jon boat with a 25 Yamaha That thing could catch a Ranger! Looking foward to spend some time with my dad fishing again, I don't care if we were bank fishing

Nothing worth taking a pic of, but we both caught about 8 fish. I did get a good sunrise pic of my dad fishing wich I will post later. We might be able to go out again tommarow, but not sure. My Dad may have to work.
Thanks for the driving directions, they were spot on
