do i need to take off the lower cowls to do this. It seems really hard to get to the shifter disconnect or can that be done with a swivel and extension/socket. please let me know, i am trying to drop it to change a waterpump

If you disconnect the left side and move it out of the way, the job is much easier.![]()
Thanks, that is what i will do then, any other tricks or things to look for when dropping the case?
It's pretty straightforward, 6 bolts hold the unit to the mid section, remove the shift rod pin and it drops down free. When you go back up, make sure the copper tube from the motor is inserted into the protruded connection on the water pump. You may need to wiggle the flywheel a bit to get the splines to line up when going back up.![]()
got it off and put back together. WOndering if I got eveything done right. it seems like I have more water coming out of the exhaust vents between the foot and the midsection than I should. The pee stream wasn't strong for the first 20-30 seconds and then it seemed to get better. ANy thoughts or ideas if soemthing is worng.
