I was gonna get back into it next year but I heard a rumor that the Gator and Everglades division may be merging...anybody heard such a thing or know when the 2010 schedule will be out?

We'll have to wait and see if the divisions are gonna merge. schedule should be out by end of month or early Nov. I'm fishin either way
Called Flw today for 2010 BFL schedule in Florida, only gonna be 1 div. next year. They are cutting back due to lack of sponsorships incuding Ranger(chapt. 11) among others. Curious to see who will pick up bonus incentives next year if any? It will be the Gator div. Dates and locations are;
Jan. 23 Okeechobee (Their not sure north or south yet) Tba
Feb. 20 Kissimmee ( Camp Mack)
Mar. 13 Harris ( Harris)
Apr. 17 Okeechobee ( ? ) Tba
Sep. 11-12 Kissimmee ( Camp Mack) 2 day qualifier
Oct. ? (Tba) Regional to be at Lake Seminole
The complete schedule should be up on website by end of Oct. Hope this helps
that's a shame, but it makes the decision of which division to fish or to fish both easier...
i love the layout, 1 on harris and 2 on each of the big o and kissimmee chain. should make for some heavyweight weigh-ins.
im fishing all of these as a co-angler...look forward to it. I hope the tournaments draw larger #'s because of this...
I look forward to meeting a bunch of great people either way!!!

Wow what a scheduleWith all the great places to fish in the state we have to fish out of Camp Mack twice? Besides, how do you have all the fishing in South Florida and then have the 2 day in the Panhandle? They should have just kept it as the everglades division since not many north of I-4 will be making the 1st 4 events. Guess it will not be long and we will be back to just the BASS weekend series and opens!
meyers... i hear ya...
i would love to come up to the northern lakes/river and fish some events but they just dont put em up there for some reason...
cant wait to see the weekend series schedule... hope it has some stuff on the river... this year they only had 33 and 39 boats though... the weekend series needs help. its good odds for $5k for the boaters though...
also, the first southern open for BASS this year will be on okeechobee, the second in jasper alabama and the third on seminole... no love for you there either.
i just hope for everyone's sake that the economy comes back this year and we can fish more tx's more often.

You are correct but it is still not a Florida trail since you are not fishing all of the state! You could fish Seminole, St. Johns, Rodman, Stick Marsh, etc...
Meyers, boy a tournament at stick Marsh would be a blast. To bad it will never happen though. Ijust hope that we get enough participation on the 2010 season to carry on for the future of BFL in our state.
BWS schedule is out also. They got rid of the 5000 guarnteed for boater unless 100 boats. They have now made a guaranteed 2500 for the co-angler. Looks like they are trying to bulid the co-angler base in order to increase the boater by providing easier linking. I wish the first one was not 1/23, I can't be in two places at once.
01/23 Kissimmee
03/06 Harris
04/24 St Johns
06/05 Harris
09/18&19 Kissimmee

meyers... a grass roots, one day, weekend trail would never have tournaments all over the state (panhandle to stick marsh)... its not practical for creating a points based season because even with a great economy...who is going to drive to the panhandle one month, then south the next and so on. the payouts in the bfl's and weekend series are not enough...you'd have to have a top 5 finish to justify driving. i agree that it does suck for half the state though... it was designed for anglers to be able to fish a trail close to home and they put em where it fits the best.
having two divisions was better because the guys from south florida (miami, wpb, ft meyers, etc) fished the everglades... the guys from central florida (tampa on up to jax) fished the gator. i met many guys from as far north as jacksonville and even ga that fished the gator. our state could probably have three divisions if you ask me, but growth isnt the theme of this year.
these trails have to make the best out of what is provided... gotta go where the money is...and where they'll get the most boats on the water.
i hope to see everyone out there...

didnt know if anyone knew, flw announced their schedule today, check out their site for all the details...
main things i noticed... a combined everglades and gator (we knew that) and no more FLW Eastern Series (pull out by sponsor prob).
the Stren Series is coming to Okeechobee, though.
also the first events of the BFL and Weekend Series do not fall on the same date!!! The BFL is on the 30th of Jan, and the Weekend Series is the 23rd of Jan (as previously reported above.) This means that you can fish both without problems!
see everyone out there!
