The new Z21 with a 250 Merc I rode in and drove last month was nice, as a matter of fact my buddy that bought it traded his nice Ranger for for it. He may go for another brand next time? Said that a comparable Ranger or Cat (he's owned more than one of both and a couple of Skeeters) was 17K more. There is NOT a perfect bass boat made, only thing is perfect for your budget and taste at that time.

Not true! You can order a new Nitro without a motor on it but you have to take it to another dealer to get the motor you want.. Buddy of mine did this and put a new Suzuki four stroke on his.

there were 2 or 3 in the club I was in. very poor fit and finish. lots of problems with them like cracking in gel coat when months old. one was taken back to factory 2 or 3 times for cracking then he finally got rid of it.

Go fish out of a 3 to 10 year old Ranger, Bass Cat, Legend, Skeeter and a Nitro. You will clearly see the difference. Nitro boats are lacking in craftsmen ship and have lesser quality materials and components.

Maybe, But they still run and fish just fine. The fish don't care how refined your rig is.

A lot of that will have to do with how well the owner took care of the boat but nice try.

When I was a younger co-angler, I was sitting behind the passenger console of a Nitro. It had a grab bar in the console and not SH*T handles on the seat. What is a grab bar for? you hold it right? Console fell off in my lap. We were going over nominal chop. Some things you can't erase from your memory.

My buddy who is a saltwater fisherman and had never caught a bass went with me for the first time today. We were taking about boats and he asks, "So, is Nitro the Bayliner of bass boats?"

I sat there for a bit (while in my Nitro) and kinda thought he had a good point

I think a lot of what you hear is just people parroting what they have heard on forums and the docks. The other part of it is whatever brand of boat a guy owns is always the best and everything else is junk, that is until he trades that boat in on a new brand..

Or it could be information / opinions from guys who are around boats 100-200 days a year for many years. The best built boats are well known by the guys who competitive fish a lot, fish big water and/or associated with the boat stores/repair shops. Same as when a new motor hits the market and has problems - the same guys will know.

Tell your self what you want but not all boats are equal/comparable.

Not sure how to break this to you but I am in the water 100-200 days out of the year. lots of people competing out of Nitros so not sure your point?

I have owned Rangers, Legends, fished out of Skeeters, Tritons etc.. Some are faster than others, some blow around less than others with the trolling motor down. I will let you in on a secret though a lot of how a boat rides rests with the guy behind the steering wheel.

I had one and it was junk. Trailer was junk. And they didn't want to fix any of its problems.

@ Texasbass1,I think the pro's choice of boat is not a good example cause they only keep a boat one year and replace it with a new model. Any boat can last a year. I'm looking for a boat to last past the loan term. Thank you for your service!
