    Val Monte/Guntersville

Can someone explain why the BFL's have to go out of Val Monte twice this year and 3 times next year?

It's probably one of the worst places to host a tournament..I understand Chris Lane pulls some weight at FLW but its ridiculous. Especially on tournaments like Feb and Sept where 90% of the field is fishing at or north of Goose Pond.

Parking is bad, tackle shop is bad, ramps are bad, you're basically forced to beach your boat to weigh in, etc, etc..

Many have wondered that as well. They had the Snag Proof tourny out of their this weekend as well......200 boats and most of the good mat fishing is way up north....even to Mudd Creek. I like the motel ok though and it's close to Wentzels!
PS: Fishing still is tough on the Big G! Wind howled this weekend.

I agree. I fished the Snag proof this weekend and they told is in the premeeting not to launch from Valmontes but to use one of the neighboring ramps because it would be to crowded. They have a nice little setup but just way to crowded for a tournament of any size.
Fishing was tough with the high winds and the 20° temperature drop.
Anyone want to buy a Snag Proof frog collection???

Also fished the Snagproof and was also curious as to why the tournament was held at Val Monte. Or for that matter, the Manns on the 9th and the Gerald Swindle/Oakley Big Bass on Oct 15/16 is also out of Valmonte. Maybe the city of Guntersville realizes the economic impact from these tournaments and is actively pursuing them. They always seemed more progressive than Scottsboro. I thought the setup at ValMonte worked pretty well for the size of the field on Sat, but it sure made for some long runs up the river where most of the decent grass mats were. We did eat at Wintzells in between pre-registration and the meeting on friday night!
