I got an IM from Nathan reminding me that there is now a $3 launch fee at Joe Wheeler.

"I don't know if everybody knows this or not but Joe Wheeler state Park is charging a $3 launch fee at the ramp at First Creek. It is on the honor system but they got envelopes with tickets that correspond to the payments so the game wardens can give out tickets. I was down there yesterday and the game warden was walking around looking at windshields. Just a heads up.......

"......I just don't want anyone to get there and not have some change and take a chance on getting a ticket. I know I don't carry cash with me much anymore I always use my debit card and if somebody is like me then they may not have any cash with them either."

I remember this being discussed here last summer but I had forgotten all about it. Thanks for the heads up, Nathan!

Terry and I went to pre fish a little saturday,and there was no packets to put our boat fee in, so I put a note on the truck to let them know I had tried to pay. Oh and there are only 2 fish in the lake, we caught them both and release for next saturday.

Terry, I had the same problem as you, but I did have an envelope in the truck that I put my money in with Tag # and Vehicle Description. Also, remember that there is an idle zone in front of the State Park. As far as the fishing, I had a pretty good day just checking on a few spots and landed this nice smallmouth.

LOL! I'm sad to say, but that was caught on Wheeler. Don't know if I will fishing yet, since I will be out there with the pros on Thursday, Friday, and possibly Saturday. I had one of my best days on Wheeler Saturday, but knowing me I wouldn't be able to duplicate that pattern to save my life.

They all finished 51st in the Elite tournament. Just out of the money.
