NoAl Chapter - Sign up here to fish Wheeler on June 18th

It looks like the next monthly NoAl Tournament will be on Wheeler out of Joe Wheeler State Park on the 18th of June. Registration will begin at 4:15 with "ease off" at first light. Weigh in will be a 3:00 pm unless voted on differently during registration.

I look forward to seeing everyone there!

NOTE: I was reminded that there is now a $3 launch fee at the state park.

Seriously, we've still got a couple of weeks to go yet. There are always a couple of teams that sign up the first day or two the thread is put up and the rest typically sign up the last few days before the tournament. I'd be real surprised if there were more than five or six boats sign up for this one, though, for a variety of reasons.

And that's funny since so many voted for Wheeler. I know Duane didn't vote, so there's still several missing. This is sort of why we went to a set schedule isn't it....

We actually kicked that around once upon a time but decided instead to vote on moving up our weigh in times a little in the summer and to not fish a tournament at all in August. We'll see what the weather holds in store on tournament day. If it looks like it's going to be a scorcher like yesterday, we'll vote on moving up our weigh in time.

We have our annual meeting at the last tournament of the year and vote on the next years schedule. At that meeting you can propose anything and it will be voted on. We normally try to stick to that schedule unless weather or other unforeseen circumstances dictate a change. We have also voted for shorter hours at the ramp the morning of the tournament in extreme heat or cold. However, switching from day to night at this point would be difficult since everyone has made plans.

Having said that, I am just a member like you. I will live with whatever our leader decides. However, I do have other evening plans and will not be able to fish at night this time.

well i am trying my best to get my own boat so i can fish more but for now i have to go with someone or use my dads boat and thats alot of hassle for me right now. its just talking the wife into letting me get me a boat lol. and it took 13.90 to win at bay springs yesterday and i have 5.25 lol its our company tourny and there was like 70 boats i guess in it. but anyway we cought alot of fish that was just our best five lol

Last time I picked up a fishing rod was when Duane and I fished on Guntersville in February or whenever we were over there. Haven't been on the water since. I can't tell you the last time I fished on Wheeler. I heard there wasn't any fish left in that lake. I'm hoping to see someone bring in a sack to show me otherwise. Can't wait to see you guys again.

I think the last time I fished Wheeler was when we put in at Joe wheeler park a few years back. I missed the last T on wheeler at ingalls. Im going to try and pre fish this weekend up there if nothing happens.
