    Bear Creek Lakes- update

Thinking about fishing one of them this coming Friday. Probably Upper Bear. Any tips? Anyone going? Jeremy is supposed to clue me in, but just wondering if anybody else has some insight. All the crap I fish looks like YooHoo and is up out of the banks down here in Columbus.

    Re: Bear Creek Lakes (poeman)

I want to thank jeremy, poeman, and bonzter for the help on Upper Bear. Nate and myself had a pretty nice catch yesterday despite the 25mph wind. A couple of my other buddies that followed me up there also had a good day. Man, that lake is absolutely beautiful! Everything you want to fish. Drops, rocks, standing timber, blowdowns, grass, shallow flats, you name it. There was one cove we went into that had no less than six waterfalls in it, and nearly every cove had at least one. Absolutely gorgeous scenery. Pretty good scenery at the little restaurant on the hill too, that makes some pretty good grub. I'll definitely be going back!

We had a little trouble finding it initially, because when we got to 13, we turned toward Haleyville, then turned down the dam road. If you have Cellular South, you might as well leave your phone at home, it will be of no use to you in that part of the country If I had been smart, I could have gone to the boat and looked at the GPS but believe it or not, it had trouble finding it too.

A little update: you have to go to the Fuel one store on 13 in Bear Creek to get your BCDA permit. They don't sell them at the place by the ramp anymore.
