Results of November NoAl tournament on Guntersville

We had a really good turnout for our November tournament with a total of ten teams competing. Guntersville continued to be a tough nut to crack for some of us but, as usual, a number of teams did quite well.

First place honors went to the team of Brian Franks & Tim Van Polen with a real nice five fish limit weighing a total of 18.65 pounds. Second place and Big Fish honors went to Harry Speegle and Alan Carter with a 16.85 pound limit anchored by a 5.2 pound largemouth.

I'd also like to give a special thanks to Brian who contributed a $50 gift certificate to his shop in Albertville for the winning team!

We had a meeting after our weigh in to plan our 2011 tournament schedule. We voted on a couple of changes that I think everyone will like. Our biggest change was to forgo a monthly tournament in January and August because of weather concerns and added an second tournament date in May. We will kick off our 2011 season with our February tournament on Guntersville. I look forward to seeing everyone there!

    Avery,
I want to thank you for all the work you put into the NoAl club. You make it a joy to fish with a great group of people. Maybe next year a few more will be able to join us on a regular basis. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Eric and I had a great time Avery. We caught 25 or 30 fish, just couldn't get the big ones. Caught them on everything from a spinnerbait to a carolina rig (and several things in between...lol).

Thanks for what you do to keep this running.

Hopefully we can make some more of them next year (I only made 3 this year), and hopefully the folks that only fish one lake out of all of them can make some of the different lakes too.

Avery, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all that you do for this get-together of fishermen and board buddies. You and Chris showed what you're made of on Saturday when I blew it coming to weigh-in. I can't thank Chris enough for coming to my rescue and then sticking with me until I was back on the trailer. You went way beyond the call of duty.

As for my stupid self, there was no real excuse for running out of fuel. I had a small limit about 1:30 and decided to make a long run. When we got about halfway down there I realized I was gonna be close on fuel, but pushed on. Stupid miscalculation on my part. We did smack 'em good and fast, but had to leave with them still hitting. Hard to do, but I knew I was running low on fuel and close on time. The rest is history. First time I've ever done that in 35 years of fishing tournaments.

I'm looking forward to next year and fishing more with you guys. And I hope others will come out too. I have been a board member for many years but never got involved with the tournaments or rally, but I'm glad I went ahead and got involved. Great way to fish a different lake and not go it all alone.

Let's try to get together here and fish some this winter. I promised Chris a rockfish trip for a 30-40#er, so I'll let you know when they are running. I am looking for a sponsor for next year, like maybe BP or Shell????? I knew my Honda was easy on gas but it doesn't run too well on air...
