    Idle mixture screws settings

Anyone know what the factory "start" setting is for the idle mixture screws on a 2004 Johnson 150? Mine appear to be backed out from seated apprx. 7-8 complete turns. Just seems too much to me. Motor runs great but idle is a little rough. Thanks for any input.

Not all engines are the same but just a rule of thumb, what ever the manual calls for it will need to be one or two turns out more for the engine to be rich enough to idle.

There was a year or two they changed the screws to meter air not fuel.

I need to adjust mine I have been hesitating. Don't want to cause more of a problem.

Thanks Seahorse for the info. If that's the case, I guess 7 or 8 turns might not be off base that much. I was thinking that the starting point was much less than that.

I think the book says 5 turns to start

Before adjusting the carbs, decarbon the motor, adjust the linkage and synchronization, and make sure the thermostats are warming up each cylinderhead to spec.
