    Logan Martin

Hey guys never been to logan martin before. I have a small budy tourney their on Jan 9th out of lakeside landing. We have about 8 boats in the tourney. Any ideas on what to throw or what depths to throw in? Jerkbaits? Jigs? Cranks? or Docks? Last question if you were putting in their would you go up river or down? Any help is greatly appreciated! Happy New Year!

first off draw a line from 33deg30'20"N, 86deg13'29"W to the submerged boulder at 33deg30'14"N, 86deg13'23"W and work that line til 11/noon with a crank. That'll get ya a limit in spots.

Then go to 33deg31'36"N, 86deg13'49"W and throw a shakey head, Bama Bug finesse worm toward the dock for some LMs.

Good Luck!,....feel free to contact me for any additional pics of locations you might need.

Not much of a Logan Martin guy, but I drove by it the other day and it looks like the water is down a pretty good bit. I have never fished there in January, but I have had some real good days with a Rat-L-Trap around some of those small little islands in February. Logan Martin is different from Lay, Mitchell, and Jordan in the aspect you dont see alot of structure on the banks other than boat docks and sea walls. There is plenty of off shore stuff if you know where it is. Without knowing the river good, I would advise you stay below the 20/59 bridge. With the water being low, it can be a little tricky above there if you dont pay close attention.

If the wind is blowing 15 to 20 mph it will not stay lite. At less mind won't.

    Re: Logan Martin (jecool22)

Last Saturday we had a open Tournament on Lake Tuscaloosa and it was 28 degrees with what was supposed to be 6 mph winds. It didn't get above freezing until after lunch and the wind was blowing so hard that you couldn't feel the bait hitting the bottom.
I've heard the high is supposed to be in single digits Sat morning so my recommendation would be to lay up in bed and stay warm or go take that heater to a shooting house.

There is always a 6 week wintertime window on Logan Martin when the orange shad rap is the hot bait. That time is right now. Find some rocks that are on the sunny side of the lake and throw it all day. You have to bang it into the rocks in 6'-8'. You will get 5 good ones if you can do it all day.
