Not sure but you might have them up on the deck dancing.

    Re: radio (Agoode)

Actually read an article about that very question. The answer is yes. The article says that normal conversation is fine; very little sound above the water is heard under the surface, however, the speakers for the radio are contacting the boat. The bass (as in base, not the bass fish) rhythms and other speaker movements are transmitted to the water thru the boat. Not the sound as we hear it, the vibrations of the speakers thru the hull to the water. However, the article also said they found no difference in the behavior of the fish with or without the radio.
Another thing to consider--all of the fish we can reach with a boat were born hearing trolling motors, outboards, jet ski and sonar pings. The article said that it is similar to people living near an airport or a railroad track. The sounds are soon ignored due to acclimatisation and familiarity with the noise.
Personally, no radio for me on the boat. Not for the fish, but for me. I like the peace and quiet!!!

I always thought it spooked the fish. Intersting, I wonder if the same goes for a trolling motor?

The article I read (I think it was in Popular Science in a Dr's waiting room) claimed that any noise the fish were accustomed to did not frighten them. I would assume that means any boating noise. Did not make clear if the fish eventually associated the noise to danger. On the other hand, maybe older (bigger) fish do "learn" to associate certain noise with danger. I'm not quite ready to believe a fish has enough brain power to "learn" a lot. I do think they can be conditioned to certain sounds that should be avoided. The article also discussed deer living in urban areas. Seems they become accustomed to the same sounds that scare deer in a wilder setting. I shoot sporting clays and have watched deer standing less than 50 feet away while we shoot 30 to 50 shells at a station. They don't even flinch.

I'd say deer are more capable of learning than fish. I wonder how a fish reacts to a scuba diver in the water?

Been a scuba diver for about 25 years, dove all over the northern gulf. Shot a lot of fish spearfishing. My speargun had an 18 foot cable on it. No problem getting close enough to stick fish. Biggest was a 275 # lemon shark (once was enough, learned my lesson ), 106 # amberjack (almost as bad as the shark ). Lots of 30#+ snapper. If you didn't rush toward them, they didn't run. Watched fish take bait that folks on the boat were dropping over, fish ignored us. Dove in the Silver River in FL once, bass and other fish just watched us, didn't seem alarmed at all. Check out the Glen Lau series of videos on fresh water fish, can see lots of interaction

    Re: radio (Agoode)

When my kids were young I would take them fishing on a pontoon boat for crappie. I was always trying to get them to be quite and not drop anything, I finally gave up. Got to paying attention to what was happening and it seem the more they acted up the more fish we caught. Now days whith all the boat traffic skiers and radios I really don't think it bothers them. Have a friend that came up on a couple that were skinney dipping on logan martin, He did not see them until he was right up on them but he caught fish around them.
