Great morning and a first, Long read :)

Got to Lake Lu (Livingston Al) at 5:55 gate opens at 6am. Rented a boat, loaded up ALL my gear went fishing. Started throwing a black buzzbait down the big flat where most bank fishers fish(for bream) fished about 200 yards, got 3 or so small swirls, missed them:(

Got to the point on the end where a small pocket starts, had another swirl and this time got it, i had assumed those little hits were smaller but this one pulled drag and surprised me, then it jumped, holy cow it's a pig, played her down couple more heart pumping jumps and boated it, nice fish that bottomed out my 8lb scale(getting a bigger one this week:) didnt get a pic but it was awesome!

Fished on for several more hours and caught some smaller fish but nothing like that first fish of the day. Had a great time, the wind was picking up and my batt was losing it's juice quickly. I started heading back to the landing area and hit the point across the pocket from where the first fish hit. First cast with a banditt flat max had a large fish on for about 4-5 secs then comes unbuttoned:( It pulled like a train but that's fishing.

Made another cast to same area and just has I stop the bait on the point the rod loaded, nice fish! Then it jumped, oh heck, bigger than the first fish, tried to play it easy, the fish jumped couple of times(heart beating now) then headed for the back of the boat where I had 2 rods, my line got tangled with those lines, I held the rod with my legs and cut off my other 2 to free the fish.(panic mode) I just knew it came off, the line was slack:( I picked it up and for a sec I thought it had got into some brush. I gently raised up and it felt heavy but didnt move. Then it went off, pulled more drag and I finily got it to the boat, forgot my net which made for a interesting few secs at the boat. But I won:)
It was my best to date. it also maxed out the scale, and it was 2 inches or longer than my 24" tape. I estmate it over 10
First fish of the day around 9, last fish over 10

Doesn't the Alabama State record come from there?? I bet that place has some toads in it. Just looked fishy when I drove by it some years ago. May have to go back this time. They allow your boats in there??

a friend of mine has the lake rec around 15 1/2 or so. the state rec is over 16. I know there's fish in there around the 15-17lb mark.
You can put your own small tin/2 man type boat in, but you have to "walk" it down a hill to the water. I just rent theirs.

I'm hoping to go this afternoon if I can get all the work done in time.
