Tourney on upperbear 1/19/08 Last sat!

I heard that nearly 22lbs is what it took to win jan 19 at the Dixie open trail. I think that there were approx 15 boats and a 7lb lunker. Yall know them folks must have been cold!!

Id really like to see some of bbc'rs fish their when the big fish are bitting, but it really start getting crowded now over thier. The weights seem to be getting bigger, I wouldnt be supprised if some of them start getting close to 30lbs bags this spring.

yep feb, march and april seems to be the months for the 30lb stringers!! And a large # of boats in tourneys.

Also march/april was the time frame the 3 big ones came out of cedar lake last year. Seems like it was an 11 something, 12.80 something, and a 14 something. I hear that resent testing showed that there were alot of big ones in cedar again. Cedar must be on its way back up. I am also hearing that 2500 smallies are going to be turned loose in little bear. And I also hear that soon after the dam problem is fixed on big bear it is going to be restocked with a flordia strain Large mouth.

If anybody is interested in some tourney schedules let me know. The dixie bass club here in hamilton has a toruney trail that has already began. The hamilton bassmasters will have the BCDA trail starting soon. The money from the BCDA tourneys pays for all the stuff (tackle, rods, reels, etc.) that we give away in our annual kids tourney that is held every year at marion co lake, its been taking place for 25+years. I can even remember fishing in it as a kid.

hey matt mc where is hamilton bassmasters next tourny at? what did it take to win on pickwick this month?

our last tounry it took 5lbs to win it big fish was 1.75 lol tough fishing. its hard to fish up there with all the locals who know those fish like the back of there hand. all during the summer you see the same people in every tourny i just save my money when it comes to those tournys. but man at the big fish you can catch usually during the week is the best time to go cause of the lower fishing pressure.

Re: Tourney on upperbear 1/19/08 Last sat! (Matt Mc)

    Tommy here is the schedule.

march__ 8___ 7am-3pm____ upperbear____ twin forks
april___ 12___ same_______ cedar creek___ slick rock
    may___ 10___6am-3pm____ upperbear____ twin forks

    classic
    june__14____6PM-2am_____Littlebear______elliot branch

Qualifiers: angler teams who place in the top 20 in one of the 3 qualifying
    tourneys.
: angler teams who fish all 3 of the tourneys.

For people not familar with the rules. It has the basic rules of any tourney. with one exception. Team members must be declared at the first tourney and the same partner must be used in all tournaments. If one member cannot fish a particular event then that person must fish alone.

    70% payback 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and big fish on each tournament.

The team with the highest point total for the trail will be awarded at the classic.

Keep in mind that all proceeds we aquire will go to the 24th annual kids fishing tourney that the Hamilton Bass masters will hold on Marion co, Lake on June 14. All kids ages 5-13yrs. old can fish. All species of fish count for kids. It is held on the free fishing weeked in alabama. On this weekend Alabama doesn't require fishing license so parents can bring kids out to fish win free fishing stuff and eat grilled hotdogs. 207 kids showed up last year. Everyone come out and help us out as more and more kids are showing up each year.

its going to be the same. I have noticed alot of tournaments are increasing their entry fee but we need a great turnout so its not changing.

$50 bucks which $5 will go to big fish, $5 will go toward the classic. $5 will go toward angler team of the year.

I agree, some of those 100. entry are just to steep for me ,especially since it usually a donation. I think the lower entry help attract more boats. Think Ill go over to upper tomorow after the ice melts and fish.
