Try a factory reset. Check the connections carefully for loose, corroded, etc. You could up-date the software if your not running the newest, but I doubt thats it.
if its not a loose/corroded connection, then I would guess a bad transducer. Call support and they can walk you thru some tests, but Im guessing they will exchange it if its under warranty.

I did the reset, check connections, software good so I guess it's toast. Thanks for the help.
what type of warranty does it have? I would guess maybe a year? I have had it a little over a year.
Doubtful guess here, but any chance the transducer got tilted to the side a little?
Called and they have a 2 year warranty for the GT30..

I dont know Garmin stuff, but when a Lowrance image looks like that it's usually because the transducer isnt level left/right (port/stb). It is facing the port/left side more so you are getting a brighter/harder return from that side. Also your down shots stink cause only some of the info is making it back to the transducer. Could be that the ducer is mounted level but the boat is way overloaded on the Starboard side also. Just a thought.
...or it could be a junk transducer![]()

It's been mounted a year like it has been but the last 2 trips is when I get this dark screen. Use to work great now they are sending me a new one.

I had that happen immediately after running over a stump in the river, even told Garmin I thought it was my fault.... they still exchanged it at no cost!!!!
