Will "spot lock" trolling motors make Power Poles/Talons unnecessary?

Hows battery life if you use the spot lock a lot? I can usually fish wind all day most of the time. And I fish into wind much more than with.

I fish sun up to sun down with my Xi5. You pretty much have to fish into the wind if your using spot lock.

What is the issue with fishing into the wind or from the back of the boat. Will PP or Talons hold in a rock bottom lake? I think both would be advantageous to have. My style of fishing (not bass fishing) neither one would work all or most of the time so I chose the Fortrex as it fits 80 per cent of my applications. The other 2o per cent of the time the spot lock would cover all my applications.
