Will any 12 pin transducer work as an upgrade ? Not entirely satisfied with the GT 30 that came with it. Thought maybe a GT 50 or another 12 pin transducer would up performance. Tried to do research on Garmins webpage but when selecting compatible devices page. The message I get is there are no compatible devices. This comes up regardless of item selected.
This is being contemplated for use on a GPSMAP 1040 XS.

Which views are you unhappy with? I doubt a non chirp unit will see any upgrade.
Tough call. On 455 the GT30 is spec'd at 1.4x53 while the GT50 is spec'd at 1.1x53. So yes, there should be a difference improvement in detail, but I would expect it to be a slight difference. The difference at 800 kHz is less 0.8x30 compared to 0.7x30. The GT50 is not cheap and you already have the GT30. That scenario seems to be the case in all of this. Spend a lot for a slight improvement---maybe. TroyBoy has one he's been offering to sell. You could think of it like how much would you spend, and then make Troy an offer than is in your range. The most he can say is no. But I'm not saying you'll like it any better than what you have. If you wanted to sell the GT30 you ought to be able to. Isn't that the only xd that works with the Y cable?

Have to agree if improvement is that minimal. Might as well keep present setup.
