    Sharing waypoints

Quick question. Last night I networked my 73dv with my 73sv through nmea2000. The network works as I can see both devices on both graphs. However, when I add a waypoint on one, it isn't showing up on the other. The network is powered up and user sharing is enabled on both devices. What am I doing wrong? TIA

Waypoints do not share with NMEA 2000. With these echoMAPs, wpt sharing is with Garmin High Speed Protocol via the blue/brown wires on the unit power cables. Connect blue to brown, brown to blue.

Gotcha. So I should wire the blue on one to the brown on the other, and vice versa? (tx to rx)?
Then what exactly do they share over nmea 2k? Also, if I wire three of them together, can I "share" the waypoints between the three? I realize that one will be "receive" only because I can't cross connect all three. But if I have, say, a 5 inch that I want to mount on the side and use as a dedicated navigation map, could I wire it's rx wire up to both of the other wires, so that if I set a waypoint on either of the other two units, it will get it as well? Realizing that I could not do it in reverse.....I would not even be able to hook the tx wire up on the third unit. Or is this not possible?

    TIA!

Yes, as you describe with blue to brown. NMEA 2000 is to run devices specific to this network, such as engine sensors, external GPS antennas, Fusion-link audio, SteadyCast heading sensor, etc.

Wpt sharing with echoMAPs is with only two units.

Gotcha, thank you! I do have a mercmonitor inserted into the nmea 2k network, and I'm getting good data transfer there. But I ran a node to my bow 73dv as well (thinking I could share mapping data between the two). It sounds like I should just remove that node, and only have the NMEA 2k network between the console unit and the mercmonitor since I only need to share 2k data between those devices? Then run wire to connect the 0183 network between the bow and console units? Is there a problem with having two garmin devices on the nmea 2k network along with the mercmonitor? I mean, from which device will the mercmonitor pull GPS speed, for example (I realize that they should both really be reporting the same speed, but what if they aren't?)

I'm sorry for so many questions. I've googled and didn't really find answers specific for my setup.

No harm keeping your bow unit networked via N2K. You might add additional N2K devices in the future that you also want connected to the bow unit.
