I have a 2004 Ficht 225ho, I am wondering what the difference between the 225 and the 250. I have heard that they are the same block, bore & stroke. I am assuming it is just timing and ecu calculations. Anybody know if I can increase the power on my 225 or know anyone who can reprogram ecu?

225 is a 3.3 l block 250 is 3.4 l block for starters.

Ok same year they are 3.3l for and 3.4l for a 2004 model year?? I didn't think the big block came out till recently?
Our friend was mistaken, the 01 and later DI's are 3.3 Liter only.
So being the Evinrude masterminds, do you know or does anyone know what I need to do to make my 225 into a 250. Looking for the hp increase if possible. Dealer tells me to buy a 250. I figure its only fuel management and timing.
When B&WB did the 250 Shoot-out back in 2003 or 2004(?) they dyno'd the 250 Ficht, 250 Vmax HPDI and 250xs Merc. The Ficht came in at LESS than 250 hp and was by far the weakest of the three 250's (I want to say 239 peak hp). Now, keep in mind the 225HO (Ficht or ETEC) is reported to be 245-247 hp. So, why would you bother with it?
They never made a production 250HO Ficht...
