Minn Kota Talon on '06 TR21

I have a '06 TR21 and going to be installing a Talon in the next couple weeks. My boat has the hydrojackplate, being that it's a hydralic plate, what is the best method of attaching it to the boat. Do I only have 2 options of the 3 to use, either directly to the transom or between transom and jackplate.

My last boat was a 05 tr21x and I mounted it directly to the transom... If I was to do it again I would mount it the same way!! There is zero flex or movment when you mount direct to the boat.

Thanks for the picture. Helped out a lot by seeing it. Do you think there is enough clearance if I installed that new tilt bracket if I were to mount it directly to the boat?

not 100% sure how the tilt bracket works but I don't think you would have any space to tilt the talon towards the boat... it would tilt but not enough to make a diffrence.

I have the same boat pictured here, I got to ask why do you have the hydrolic jack plate jacked all the way up when trailered ?
I also see you have a 4 blade prop, what are you getting out of it with top end speed ?

I don't own that boat anymore but that was the hight I had the best peformance at so I didn't really move the plate around much unless I was in rough water or really shallow.. I realize its better to lower the plate down for towing but oh well, never had any problems. That was a 26 trophy and I was running 73-75 2 guys full load by myself best was 77 at 6300 rpm

Thats a surprise, that it performed better way up there, maybe because of the 4 blade. mine with a 3 blade I run best at about 3 on the dial it came with to tell you the height.
That thing is only sitting in about 4-5" of the jack plate, I am afraid it would bend or rip off the back on mine, LOL

Hmm.. That a bit strange. Even with it that high I still had tons of water pressure!! But yeah, that's where it ran best for me. I know what you mean about being worried about it breaking off but I think I'm more worried about the new pro xs breaking off!! Man that thing has alot of wiggle in it when running!!

Is there a good place, BBC sponsor, that sells the 8ft black Talon for a good price? Also, can you powder coat these talons to match the boat?

Not sure which sponsor sells talons but I do know they can be powder coated.. If you do some searching on here you will find pics of a pair of red talons. Looked really good. Try jones trolling motors for talon prices.. They are board sponsors

I read that the bracket to mount the Talon directed to the boat wouldn't allow me to use the new Tilt Bracket that just came out, not good for me, I need that.

Now my question is, I'm ordering a Talon on Sunday and looking for the correct bracket. I want to mount on Port side and I have a hydraulic Jackplate, meaning my bracket has to be the one mounted between JP and transom. I have a '06 TR21, what would be a good setback to use, they come in 3", 6", 9". I'm thinking I would prefer it close as possible to the transom.

Am I correct with my only option now would be to mount between JP and transom due to hydraulic jackplate?
