I am looking for some advice and recommendations on mounting a 798 or 898 on my SF-21 console. I don't see a good way to mount an 898, I think the physical size is just to big and will cut off my view of important guages. I would appreciate any info.

Go to the Humminbird forum then click on the instalation thread. And they have pics by boat brand. Lots of good info on there.
I don't have HB but I installed my HDS10 to the left of the steering column on the flat dash area and I used a RAM mount. If my HDS10 will fit your 798 or 898 should fit.
Other option depends on the year of SF-21 you have. My dash came with an old eagle in the center and it is still there. You could take it out and fill with a blank and mount your bracket on it.
I am going to the boat tomorrow and I will snap a couple of pictures of my install. They might give you some ideas.
