    Re: (ragin_cajun92)

My current boat is an 2002 TR20 that was repowered in 2007 with a 225 proxs. I bought the boat 2 years ago from the widow of the original owner. It had 18 hours on the new motor and has warrantee until this summer (July 2012). I was happy to find it because the price was in line with all the other 02-03 boats I had looked at, but I was shocked when I got it home and found the invoice for the new motor. I paid the same amount for the boat motor and trailer as he had paid for the new motor alone 2 1/2 years earlier.

The warning here is this: If you will truely hang onto your boat after repowering, go for it. But if you even think for a minute that you will be wanting to upgrade, then don't spend the $ on the new motor. It doesn't increase the overall value of the boat much at all. In fact, after a couple years it will only sell slightly higher than any other 99 tr19 in similar condition.

Re: Need some feed back (ragin_cajun92)

I repowered my 99 tr 19 with a 2011 175 pro xs last May. I like my decision so far, warranty until 2016 and the motor will be paid off in a couple months.(paid some down). I am like you, I have new seats, new electronics, and soon to be new rims just like yours. Love my boat and couldn't see spending 40 or 50k on a new boat. And plus my wife was ok with just a motor and not a new boat.

Re: Need some feed back (ragin_cajun92)

By myself with a 24 tempest plus prop 70.5 gps with all gear and a half tank of gas.
with a partner 68-69 but i am turning around 6100 rpms. I am gonna try a 25 tempest to see if i can get lower rpms and maybe stay around the same speed. I have around 17-18 hours on the motor. I don't think you can go wrong in putting a xs on your boat, unless you plan on selling in the next year or so.
